September 10 League Recap

We had a great first session of our first Sunday League. We had 8 players show up to play and a few that let us know they will be playing tomorrow during makeup time. Don’t forget that if you missed today you will be able to play your Session 1 games between 5pm and 7pm on 9/11/2023 at The Coin Slot. I plan to arrive at The Coin Slot sometime between 4pm and 5pm. I gave an introduction to the league and went over a few things. For those of you that were not here here is a recap:

  1. The is our first time directing a pinball league and our first season. Hopefully things will go smoothly. If there are any problems it will be a good learning experience for all of us.
  2. League name – Next week there will be a list of already suggested names and a place for people to add their own suggestions for the name of our league. For example: Lansing’s league is simply called the “Lansing Pinball League”
  3. Reporting results – Printed score sheets for each week. If you are playing solo you MUST have someone else check your score and/or write it down. This is mainly to prevent typos or just silly mistakes. Results will be published Monday night; Tuesday at the latest.
  4. Once you have played 4 sessions of a season you are eligible for finals and voting rights for league decisions.
  5. Etiquette – Please be courteous to your fellow players. If someone is playing a league game, do your best to not distract them.
  6. League shirts – I am looking for someone to help design and have them made up. Please contact me if you would like to help with this.
  7. Weekly Brawl – Each week we will have a side tournament on one game. “Best Game” format, two attempts per person. The top scoring players will go into a one game “match play” playoff. This side tournament is IFPA sanctioned.

“I think the tilts are set up perfect at the slot now”

anonymous, quote of the week

Friendly reminder – EVERYONE who plays 4 sessions will be eligible to play in the finals. The finals will be split into two divisions with the top scoring half of players in division A, and the bottom scoring half of players in division B. Division A and B players will not be playing each other in the finals. There will a be separate prize pools for Division A and Division B.

All players who attend the finals will have their name engraved on a plaque in some fashion.

Top finishers for this week’s session. Full results on Match Play.

We did our first weekly brawl and AJ ran away with the win. He won a napkin signed with a hand written note from my oldest son.

Thanks a lot everyone for being such great players, it was quite a fun time to be there today and I look forward to seeing you next week.

A big shoutout to Scott P for the venue with such an amazing collection of modern games. Ben H for all the time and hard work on the website. Another big special thanks for AJ and Ben for listening to me blather on about league in discord.
